Why Proper Storage Matters
Peptides are biological molecules that degrade when exposed to heat, light, moisture, and bacterial contamination. Improper storage can reduce potency to zero within days. A peptide stored correctly maintains its molecular structure and biological activity for months to years. Lyophilized (Unreconstituted) Storage
Lyophilized peptides are freeze-dried into a stable powder form. For long-term storage (6+ months), keep at -20°C in a freezer. For short-term storage (up to 3 months), refrigeration at 2-8°C is acceptable. Always keep vials sealed and protected from light. Avoid repeated temperature cycling — do not repeatedly remove from freezer and return. When receiving shipments, immediately transfer to appropriate cold storage.
Reconstitution Technique
Step 1: Allow the lyophilized vial to reach room temperature (5-10 minutes). Step 2: Clean the vial stopper with an alcohol swab. Step 3: Draw the desired amount of bacteriostatic water into an insulin syringe (typically 1-2ml). Step 4: Insert the needle through the stopper and direct the water stream against the glass wall of the vial — never directly onto the peptide powder. Step 5: Allow the water to gently run down and dissolve the powder. Step 6: Gently swirl the vial in circular motions until fully dissolved. Never shake vigorously.
Post-Reconstitution Storage
Once reconstituted, peptides must be stored refrigerated at 2-8°C at all times. Most reconstituted peptides maintain stability for 4-6 weeks when stored properly. Keep vials upright to prevent stopper contamination.
